Statement of Faith: What We Believe

Yes. The Sabbath is the fourth commandment, written by the Father’s own hand on the tablets of stone and repeated in Deuteronomy 5:12-14.

“Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy. Six days shalt thou labour, and do all thy work: But the seventh day is the sabbath of the Lord thy God: in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates: For in six days the Lord made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day: wherefore the Lord blessed the sabbath day, and hallowed it.” Exodus 20:8-11 (KJV)

Notice whose day it is: “the sabbath of the Lord thy God”. It does not belong to men, and it does not belong to Israel alone. It belongs to the LORD.

Because the Father calls the Sabbath a sign between Himself and His people, for all generations.

“Say to the Israelites, Truly you shall keep My Sabbaths, for it is a sign between Me and you throughout your generations, that you may know that I, the Lord, sanctify you [set you apart for Myself].” Exodus 31:13 (AMPC)

“And hallow (separate and keep holy) My Sabbaths, and they shall be a sign between Me and you, that you may know, understand, and realize that I am the Lord your God.” Ezekiel 20:20 (AMPC)

He did not say “until the Messiah comes”. He said “throughout your generations”. And there is one law for the native-born and for the stranger who joins himself to the LORD:

“Ye shall have one manner of law, as well for the stranger, as for one of your own country: for I am the Lord your God.” Leviticus 24:22 (KJV)

In the last days, the saints are known by this very mark:

“This is when perseverance is needed on the part of God’s people, those who observe his commands and exercise Yeshua’s faithfulness.” Revelation 14:12 (CJB)

No. The Father was clear that His commandments are not ours to edit.

“What thing soever I command you, observe to do it: thou shalt not add thereto, nor diminish from it.” Deuteronomy 12:32 (KJV)

“Ye shall not add unto the word which I command you, neither shall ye diminish ought from it, that ye may keep the commandments of the Lord your God which I command you.” Deuteronomy 4:2 (KJV)

Scripture even warns that one would rise who would attempt it:

“And he shall speak words against the Most High [God] and shall wear out the saints of the Most High and think to change the time [of sacred feasts and holy days] and the law…” Daniel 7:25 (AMPC)

He attaches a blessing to it.

“Blessed, happy, and fortunate is the man who does this, and the son of man who lays hold of it and binds himself fast to it, who keeps sacred the Sabbath so as not to profane it, and keeps his hand from doing any evil.” Isaiah 56:2 (AMPC)

The blessing is open to everyone who joins himself to the LORD:

“Also the sons of the stranger, that join themselves to the Lord, to serve him, and to love the name of the Lord, to be his servants, every one that keepeth the sabbath from polluting it, and taketh hold of my covenant;” Isaiah 56:6 (KJV)

“If you turn away your foot from [traveling unduly on] the Sabbath, from doing your own pleasure on My holy day, and call the Sabbath a [spiritual] delight, the holy day of the Lord honorable, and honor Him and it, not going your own way or seeking or finding your own pleasure or speaking with your own [idle] words, Then will you delight yourself in the Lord…” Isaiah 58:13-14 (AMPC)

He also warns the shepherds who hide their eyes from it:

“Her priests have violated my law, and have profaned mine holy things: they have put no difference between the holy and profane, neither have they shewed difference between the unclean and the clean, and have hid their eyes from my sabbaths, and I am profaned among them.” Ezekiel 22:26 (KJV)

Yes. The Sabbath is not only behind us; it is ahead of us.

“Every month on Rosh-Hodesh and every week on Shabbat, everyone living will come to worship in my presence,” says Adonai. Isaiah 66:23 (CJB)
