The 10 Lost Tribes of Israel

The 10 Lost Tribes of Israel have been mentioned in several chapters in the Scriptures. Ever since God scattered them after the death of King Solomon, they have been scattered and have remained that way.

House of Israel and House of Judah

Many say that the scattered 10 tribes of Israel have been found and are back in Israel. However, the fact is, modern day Israel consists of only 2 tribes, along with a few Levites. They are the Tribes of Judah and Benjamin. And they are collectively referred in the Holy Scriptures as House of Judah and they call themselves Jews (Judah). They were also called the Southern Kingdom of Israel.

So, if Jews are House of Judah, then who is House of Israel?

House of Israel is the collective name of the Tribes of Reuben, Simeon, Issachar, Zebulun, Dan, Naphtali, Gad, Asher, Ephraim (son of Joseph), Manasseh (son of Joseph). They included a few Levites as well. Since the majority tribe among the 10 was Ephraim, they were also called House of Ephraim or House of Joseph. They were also called the Northern Kingdom of Israel.

You might be wondering why they are called House of Israel? They are called House of Israel because Jacob (Israel) passed the firstborn blessings to Joseph’s son Ephraim (Genesis 48).

Genesis 48 is a very important historical event that went forward to shape the rest of world events. The mystery about the identity of the 10 lost tribes were hidden right there. Jacob (Israel) spoke prophetically that that Ephraim is going to be the “fullness of gentiles” (Genesis 48:19). More on that here.

Scriptural References to the Houses of Israel and Judah

Following are a few scriptures written by anointed men of God about the two houses of Israel.

Matthew 15: 24 But He answered and said, "I (Yeshua) am not sent but unto the lost sheep of the house of Israel."

Matthew 10: 5-7 These twelve Jesus sent forth, and commanded them, saying, “Go not into the way of the Gentiles, and into any city of the Samaritans enter ye not: 6 But go rather to the lost sheep of the house of Israel. 7 And as ye go, preach, saying, The kingdom of heaven is at hand.”

Jeremiah 31: 10 Hear the word of the LORD, O ye nations, and declare it in the isles afar off, and say, He that scattered Israel will gather him, and keep him, as a shepherd doth his flock.

Jeremiah 16:16 Behold, I will send for many fishers, saith the LORD, and they shall fish them; and after will I send for many hunters, and they shall hunt them from every mountain, and from every hill, and out of the holes of the rocks.

Isaiah 11:12-13 He will raise a banner for the nations and gather the exiles of Israel (Ephraim); he will assemble the scattered people of Judah (Jews) from the four quarters of the earth. 13 Ephraim (most Christians)'s jealousy will vanish, and Judah (Jews)'s enemies will be cut off; Ephraim will not be jealous of Judah, nor Judah hostile toward Ephraim.

House of Ephraim forsook the Holy Commandments!

Hosea 8:12 I (God) have written to him the great things of my Law, but they were counted as a strange thing.

Psalms 78: 9-10 The children of Ephraim, being armed, and carrying bows, turned back in the day of battle. They kept NOT the covenant of God, and refused to walk in His law;

Hosea 7:8 Ephraim, he hath mixed himself among the people; Ephraim is a cake not turned.

Ezekiel 37:21 And say unto them, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, I will take the children of Israel from among the heathen, whither they be gone, and will gather them on every side, and bring them into their own land:

Ezekiel 37:19 Say unto them, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, I will take the stick of Joseph, which is in the hand of Ephraim, and the tribes of Israel his fellows, and will put them with him, even with the stick of Judah, and make them one stick, and they shall be one in mine hand.

Jeremiah 31:31 Behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel, and with the house of Judah:

Jeremiah 31:33 But this shall be the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel; After those days, saith the LORD, I will put my law in their inward parts, and write it in their hearts; and will be their God, and they shall be my people.

Jeremiah 31:6 For there shall be a day, that the watchmen upon the mount Ephraim shall cry, Arise ye, and let us go up to Zion unto the LORD our God.
